Summary:

In order to achieve breakout success in life, you must hear the Word of God directly from God. He is always speaking, but if you want to receive revelation knowledge (the secret things of God
revealed to you by the Holy Spirit), you must position yourself to hear
God’s voice. Praying in tongues and meditating on the Word will position
you to hear directly from Him.

  1. You must hear the Word of God from God in order to achieve the highest level of success.
    1. You must know God intimately and not be casually acquainted with Him to recognize His voice.
      1. Hearing God speak directly to you will bring revelation or confirmation about what is in His Word and will transform your life.
        1. Jesus’ mother advised the servants to do whatever Jesus told them to do. When they obeyed, transformation took place, and Jesus turned water into wine
          (John 2:1-11).
      2. Being able to hear what God tells you is the key to life's success.
      3. The Holy Spirit was sent to lead and guide you into all truth, but He can’t lead you if you can’t hear Him. You can’t hear Him unless you read
the Bible—you can’t be faithful to the spoken Word if you aren’t
        faithful to the written Word.
    2. The wisdom of God is given to you by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:6-10)
      1. Wisdom is not knowledge; it is the ability to use knowledge. Wisdom is knowing what to do when you don’t know what to do.
      2. When you speak in tongues, you speak the wisdom of God, even hidden wisdom (wisdom hidden from the devil, for you).
      3. The Holy Spirit reveals hidden wisdom, so it is important for you to have a relationship with the Holy Spirit.
    3. God knows all secrets—He has the secret to every situation in your life. When God’s secrets are revealed to you by the Holy Spirit, they
belong to you and your children (Deuteronomy 29:29).
      1. The key to your victory is the inside information that the Holy Spirit reveals to you.
      2. God wants to show you some things.
      3. If you open yourself up to receive revelation knowledge from the Holy Spirit, you will never have to live an average life.
      4. You have to decide what kind of Christian you want to be: one who doesn’t hear from the Holy Spirit and remains average, or one who
reaches the ultimate level of success because he hears from God.
  2. You must position yourself to receive revelation knowledge.
    1. The more time you spend praying and speaking in tongues, the clearer your hearing becomes.
      1. When the Bible refers to speaking “mysteries,” it is talking about speaking in tongues (1 Corinthians 14:2).
      2. Although you may not understand what you are saying when you speak in tongues, you are speaking answers and secrets.
    2. Prayer is a dialogue, not a monologue. When you speak in tongues, the Holy Spirit will eventually talk back.
      1. When you speak in tongues today, you are calling up wisdom that you will need in the future.
      2. It’s never a waste of time to spend time praying in the Holy Spirit. One day you’ll hear the voice of the Holy Spirit answer you, and you’ll
receive light, instruction or a revealed secret.
    3. Meditating on the Word positions you to hear from God.
      1. When you listen to a sermon several times, more will be revealed to you each time you hear it.
      2. When God says it and you see it, might and strength come into your life.
    4. Colossians 1:9-11 is the foundation for the following prayer, which will position you to hear from God: Lord, I thank You that I am filled with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that I might walk worthy of You,
Lord, being pleasing and fruitful in every good work, increasing in the
knowledge of God and strengthened with all might, according to Your
      glorious power.
    5. Hearing from God involves using more than your physical ears; you must also use the ears of your heart.
      1. You have an “ear” in the center of your “heart.”
        1. Write down the word “heart” to see the revelation that God has put in the word. Heart is made up of several smaller words that create a
message: “He” put an “ear” in the center of your heart so you can
“hear,” and that should be the “art” of every Christian.
        2. God has put an ear in your heart, or in the center of your spirit, and He speaks to that ear so you can hear Him. Hearing from God is the art of
          being a Christian.
        3. God spoke to Noah in specific details when He told him to build an ark, so should not be satisfied with only vague impressions from God.
  3. As a result of your getting revelation knowledge, you’ll be strengthened with all might (the ability to do anything).
    1. Matthew 16:13-18 illustrates how revelation knowledge occurs and how you are strengthened with might once you receive it.
      1. Jesus asked His disciples who people thought He was, as well as who they thought He was. Simon Peter answered that Jesus was the Christ, an
answer that was given to him through revelation knowledge (vv. 16-17).
      2. As a result of the revelation knowledge that Simon Peter received, Jesus called him “Peter,” which means “a piece of the rock.” Jesus then
said that God would build His church (His believers) on the rock of
revealed knowledge, and nothing would ever be able to stand against it
        (v. 18).
    2. Once God reveals something to you, it strengthens you with might and empowers you to prosper. Nothing can prevail against a believer who has received revelation knowledge.
