Summary:

Our loving one another is God’s preeminent commandment; love fulfills every aspect of the law. Love is what connects you to power. How people know you are a Christian is by the
love you display to others.

  1. Love is a new commandment that encompasses all the other commandments (John 13:34-35).
    1. The way you treat your brothers and sisters in Christ is evidence of your love walk.
      1. Every time you mistreat someone, you are breaking this commandment.
      2. Before doing anything, ask, “How is this going to affect the other person?”
    2. The process of being born-again is the process of passing from death to life (1 John 3:13-14).
      1. Jesus was the first to be born again, passing from life to death and back to life; He was the firstborn of many brethren (Colossians 1:15,18).
      2. A man who doesn’t love is spiritually dead.
    3. The number one goal of every Christian must be to learn to walk in love.
      1. As a Christian, you owe it to everyone to love him or her (Romans 13:8-10).
      2. Love works no ill toward its neighbors.
      3. If you don’t walk in love, you’ve missed the essence of Christianity.
      4. Everything in your Christian walk rests on the foundation of love.

  2. Getting a revelation of the love of God will release the anointing of might in you (Ephesians 3:16-20).
    1. Might is “an ability or anointing to do anything.”
    2. Might comes from the Holy Spirit Who lives inside your spirit.
      1. The anointing of might dwells in you.
      2. Through the Spirit of might, you can do all things.
    3. To tap into the Spirit of might, you must be rooted and grounded in love.
    4. If you want to fix your power shortage, you must fix your love shortage.
    5. To know the love of Christ is to know the love of the anointing (Ephesians 3:19).
    6. The love of God comes by way of revelation; it surpasses human knowledge or mental assent.
      1. Jesus was revealed to His disciples as the Anointed One (Matthew 16:13-18; John 1:40-42); their knowledge of Him needed to get past their heads.
      2. When the love of God is revealed to you, you will experience fullness—nothing needed or wanted.
      3. You refuse to walk in hate when you have a revelation of love.

  3. If you are born again, you already possess the love of God.
    1. The day you received Jesus, the Holy Spirit entered your spirit and poured the love of God in you (Romans 5:5).
    2. When love gets in you, Jesus and the Father get in you.
    3. Love is power.
      1. What God can do through you, in you and for you is empowered by the love that is working in you.
      2. To love is to know God (1 John 4:8).

  4. Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit, love and power (Acts 10:38).
    1. Jesus and the Father are one (John 17:11).
      1. The same love that God loves Jesus with is in you (John 17:26).
    2. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are one (1 John 5:7).
      1. Even though you function in different capacities, such as a child, spouse and businessperson, you are still one “you.”
    3. The Holy Spirit is love before He is power.
      1. Jesus was first anointed with the Holy Spirit, Who is love; power came about as a result. Jesus was anointed, or smeared, with love.
      2. You have the same love smeared on you that Jesus had on Him; therefore, you have access to the same power that controlled His life.
      3. There is no power apart from love.
    4. Jesus was able to do great works because He allowed love, or compassion, to move Him (Matthew 9:36; Matthew 14:14).
      1. When compassion moves you, it turns into power.
      2. Power that heals flows from compassion.
      3. The love of God can’t dwell in a person who doesn’t have compassion (1 John 3:17).
        1. You empower people by loving them.
        2. Compassion compels you to bear the burdens of others (Galatians 6:1-2).
    5. If there isn’t a difference in how you love, you’re just wearing a Christian T-shirt.
    6. The “switch” of the law of Christ is turned on by your love walk.
