Summary:

The Word of God is seed, and it can be sown in four types of ground: wayside, stony, thorny or good soil. The type of harvest a seed

produces is largely based on the type of ground in which it is planted.
The Word has the ability to bring forth results, but we must allow the
seed of God's Word to become rooted in our hearts. The degree of
thought and meditation you give to the Word of God you hear will
determine the results you get from it.

  1. The type of soil determines whether the seed of the Word will produce a harvest (Mark 4:3-8, 14-20).
    1. Be careful of how you hear and receive the Word of God (v. 24); make sure your heart is good ground for receiving the Word.
      1. Take heed to what you hear and hold on to it (Hebrews 2:1).
    2. Guard the Word of God that you receive in your heart.
      1. Satan wants to steal the Word that you hear.
    3. You must always be in position to receive the Word.
      1. Welcome the Word of God in your heart gladly.
      2. The Word must be rooted in your heart, in order to produce results.

  2. You must be a doer and not only a hearer of the Word (James 1:21-25).
    1. You will get the maximum harvest when you embrace the Word with an honest and good heart (Luke 8:15).
      1. To embrace means to take, receive, and accept or to hold as close and dear; to lay hold of and seize.
    2. You demonstrate that you have embraced the Word when you act on it.
    3. Samuel was so diligent about hearing God's Word and embracing it, that he was established as a prophet (1 Samuel 3:11-21).
    4. Mary embraced the Word and she harvested the birth of Jesus (Luke 1:31, 34, 37, 38).

  3. There are nine ways to embrace the Word and receive your harvest.
    1. Think about it, or meditate on it (Joshua 1:8).
    2. Speak it.
    3. Listen to it.
    4. Celebrate it.
    5. Spend time with it to become rooted in it.
    6. Imagine it.
      1. See yourself walking in what God has said in His Word.
    7. Study it.
    8. Hold it as dear to you.
    9. Value it above anything.
