Summary:

Many Christians do not understand the importance of confession as it relates to the kingdom of God. Confession is the key to unlocking faith. When we renew our minds with the Word and speak the Word, we are developing our faith.

  1. The word confession means “to acknowledge,” “to own,” or “to acknowledge faith in.”

    1. By confessing God’s Word, we take possession of His promises.

      1. We confess God’s Word to establish it within our spirits.

      2. We also confess God’s Word to admit and accept that it is true.

  2. If anyone hears the Word and does not understand it, Satan can take it away from him (Matthew 13:18-19; Mark 4:15).

    1. Satan cannot steal the Word when a person understands it.

    2. We must understand the necessity of feeding ourselves the Word of God (Luke 10:41-42).

    3. When we understand the Word, our lives change; however, becoming busy and anxious causes us to miss out on God’s answers.

  3. Seven reasons confession of God’s Word works:

    1. Confessing God’s Word works because it is a way in which we sow seeds into the kingdom of God.

      1. The kingdom of God is within every Christian (Luke 17:21, AMP).

      2. We can write the Word of God upon our hearts (Psalm 45:1, AMP).

      3. Our mouth speaks the harvest that we are growing in our hearts (Matthew 12:34).

      4. We must plant the Word of God in our hearts like a farmer plants seed in the ground. We plant it in our hearts by speaking it (Mark 4:26-27; Matthew 17:20).

      5. We receive our inheritance and the promises of God by speaking them (2 Corinthians 4:13).

      6. Carnal or fleshly thoughts are thoughts that go against the Word of God.

      7. We cannot think in a way that goes against God’s Word and still receive what we want from the kingdom of God (Romans 8:7).

    2. Confessing God’s Word works because it causes our faith to work. Words transmit either fear or faith (Job 3:25).

      1. When we confess the Word, our inner ear hears and receives what we are saying.

      2. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).

      3. Fear comes by hearing and hearing the words of Satan.

    3. Confessing God’s Word works because it renews the mind (Romans 12:1-2).

      1. The Word feeds our spirit, then, in turn, our spirit feeds our mind and causes it to agree with God.

      2. The new man (our born-again spirit) is renewed through the knowledge of the Word (Colossians 3:9-10).

    4. Confessing God’s Word works because it keeps the answer before us.

      1. We must stay focused on the answer and not the problem. Focusing on the problem causes us to develop in fear instead of faith (Philippians 4:6-8).
