Summary:

In order to take advantage of the protection and provision God has promised in His Word, there must be a balance between your holding fast to the written Word of God and recognizing and obeying

the promptings of the Holy Spirit when He speaks to you. To do one
without the other will not produce the results you desire and may even
hinder what God wants to do in and through your life. Balance is the key
to life.

  1. There must be balance where spiritual things are concerned.
    1. The Scripture talks about there being an earthly aspect to life and also a spiritual aspect.
    2. Physical exercise is an example of something that is profitable for your body from an earthly, physical standpoint. But spiritual things will not only profit you in the natural
realm but also in the eternal, spiritual realm (1 Timothy 4:8).
      1. Physical training is good, but don't neglect spiritual training.
    3. Balance is the key to life.

  2. God will redeem your life from destruction and satisfy you with good things (Psalm 103:1-5).
    1. The Holy Spirit is interested in redeeming your life from destruction.
    2. The Holy Spirit is the mediator of the new covenant God has established with you. It is a better covenant than the old one (Hebrews 8:6).
    3. The Holy Spirit is given to you so you can enjoy protection from harm.
      1. The Holy Spirit will separate you from things that will destroy your peace, health and well-being.

  3. Walking in the Spirit is walking in godliness.
    1. Walking in godliness means applying the written Word of God and following the promptings of the Holy Spirit.
      1. You shouldn't hold fast to the letter of the Word and ignore the Holy Spirit's promptings (2 Corinthians 3:6).
      2. The promptings of the Holy Spirit will save you from destruction.
      3. The Holy Spirit will always speak in line with the written Word of God.
      4. It is the Holy Spirit's job to execute your covenant of redemption from destruction.
      5. Learn to walk with the Holy Spirit by allowing Him to speak to you about every area of your life.
    2. When you know the Word of God, you will know the voice of God.
    3. The Spirit of God within you will cause you to live in line with His statutes (Ezekiel 36:26, 27).
    4. You grieve the Holy Spirit by continuing to ignore Him when He tells you to do something.
      1. When you continue to ignore the Holy Spirit, He will stop talking to you in the area in which you are ignoring Him.
