Summary:

Jesus came to the earth to reverse the effects of Adam's sin in the Garden of Eden. Through Him, every person can be made the righteousness of God. When you are in Christ Jesus, you don't have
to feel condemned about sin when you miss the mark.


  1. Through Adam's disobedience in the Garden of Eden, sin entered the earth, but Jesus reversed the effects of sin and made righteousness available to all men
    (Romans 5:12-21).
    1. By one man (Adam), sin entered the earth.
    2. Once sin entered the earth, man began to die.
      1. It was never a part of God's plan for man to die.
      2. Death is the result of Adam's disobedience.
      3. God sent Jesus to the earth to take back the authority that Adam had turned over to Satan in the Garden.
        1. God's plan involved His coming to earth in the form of a man.
    3. You don't have to do anything to be a sinner; you are born a sinner because of what Adam did.
    4. Through one man (Jesus), the free gift of righteousness (right-standing with God) was made available to all men.
      1. You don't become righteous, you are made righteous by accepting Jesus.
      2. Righteousness is the ability to stand before God without the sense of guilt, condemnation or inferiority.
      3. Jesus took on man's sin on the cross so that man could become righteous.
      4. Your works don't make you righteous; nothing you do in your own ability can make you more or less righteous.
      5. Righteousness is available to all people, just like sin is available to all people (Romans 3:20).

  2. Jesus took back the authority that Adam turned over to Satan.
    1. When Jesus died on the cross, His spirit went to hell.
    2. Jesus looked like sin when He entered hell, and Satan thought that he had the victory over Him.
    3. After three days, Jesus' spirit was quickened by God and He revealed His identity to the enemy.
      1. Jesus took back the keys of death, hell and the grave, and released those saints in hell who had died before they had a chance to become born
        again.
    4. Jesus gained the victory over Satan forever and restored authority to mankind.
    5. You have a right to every promise in the Bible because of what Jesus did on the cross.
    6. You are the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus.
