Summary:

When Adam and Eve forfeited the blessing, God had to come up with a way to redeem the blessing and restore the glory in the earth. He preserved the blessing by passing it down through Noah and

Abraham, from whom Jesus descended. The blessing is an empowerment to
prosper that enables you to have wholeness in every area of your life.
God blesses you so that you can be a blessing to other people.

  1. When Adam and Eve ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they invited a curse in the earth.
    1. God put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:9).
    2. When the serpent spoke to Adam and Eve, it was the first time they heard words that opposed God’s Word (Genesis 3:2-4).
      1. They blatantly disobeyed God (v. 6-13).
      2. Disobedience invites a curse on your life.
      3. Obedience invites the blessing on your life.
      4. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, the curse entered the earth and man, who was originally created to live forever, became mortal (v. 19).

  2. Sin blocks the blessing of God in your life.
    1. Sin makes cowards of men.
    2. God will cleanse you of your sin when you confess it, but as long as sin remains in your life, God’s power is being blocked.
      1. Example: your prayers will not be answered when you are in sin.

  3. The Tree of Life had to be guarded because of Adam and Eve’s Sin.
    1. God had to place angels around the Tree of Life to guard it
      (v. 22-24).
      1. Anyone who ate of the Tree of Life would forever be locked into the spiritual condition they were in when they partook of its fruit.
      2. If Adam and Eve had eaten of the Tree of Life in their cursed state, mankind would forever be cursed.
      3. The Tree of Life was never supposed to be eaten of by cursed people.
    2. The Tree of Life has been relocated to the midst of the paradise of God and is awaiting those who are overcomers (Revelation 2:7).
      1. God will take the spirits of the righteous, make them perfect and grant them access to the Tree of Life so that they will forever be in a
perfect spiritual state when they enter Heaven.
        1. righteous doesn’t mean that you are flawless; it simply means that you know and lay hold of your right to be cleansed from sin.
      2. When you eat the fruit of the Tree of Life as an overcomer, you will be blessed forever (Revelation 22:2-5, 14).

  4. God came up with a plan to redeem mankind from the curse.
    1. When Adam sinned, the whole universe was infected by his treacherous act.
    2. God had to redeem the blessing and the glory, and He couldn’t break any of His own laws in the process.
    3. Jesus was the Last Adam who met the qualifications necessary to redeem mankind and reverse the curse.
      1. Both Jesus and Adam came into existence through God’s Word being spoken.
      2. Both Jesus and Adam had God’s blood type.

  5. God reestablished the blessing through Noah and his sons.
    1. Satan’s goal was to pervert the seed of the woman because he knew that the seed of a woman would bruise his head, or destroy him.
      1. He tried to pervert mankind through the union of fallen angels and women of the earth which produced giants (Genesis 6:1-4).
    2. Wickedness in the earth was so bad that God decided to destroy every living creature (v. 5-7).
    3. God flooded the earth and everything was wiped out except for Noah and his family, and the animals that came with Noah on the ark that God had
      instructed him to build.
    4. God promised not to curse the ground again after the flood
      (Genesis 8:20-22).
    5. God reestablished the blessing by speaking words over Noah and his sons (Genesis 9:1).
    6. It is important that we speak words of blessing and not cursing over others.
      1. We must “cover” each other and not speak wrong words over those who are in sin.
      2. When we “cover” others, we don’t expose their sin like Noah’s son Canaan did to his father (Genesis 9:20-29).
    7. Noah spoke the blessing over Shem because he covered Noah, but he cursed Canaan because of his failure to cover Noah’s nakedness.
    8. Abraham descended from the line of Shem, who was blessed
      (Genesis 11:10-29).
      1. God preserved the blessing through Shem and Abraham.

  6. In order to experience the blessing, it may be necessary for you to get away from those who are familiar to you (Genesis 12: 1-3).
    1. Get away from that which is familiar to you i.e. people and ways of thinking.
    2. When the blessing is on your life, there will be no more limits.
    3. God blesses you so that you can be a blessing to others.
      1. God wants to use you as an avenue of favor to show up in someone else’s life so they can avoid misfortune.
      2. The original purpose and intent of the blessing is so that you can be God’s distribution center.
    4. The blessing will be seen on your life.
    5. The blessing makes you rich in every area of your life and adds no sorrow (Proverbs 10:22).
      1. To be rich means that you are experiencing wholeness in every area of your life, from your finances to your relationships.
      2. Being rich includes but is not limited to material wealth.
    6. You can’t remain average with the blessing on your life.
