Summary:

Some people fail to receive from God because they do not understand who they are in Christ. It is important for Believers to know the fundamentals
of faith in order to get results.

There are six enemies to our faith:

    1. Failure to understand what it means to be a new creature in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
      1. Being a new creation in Christ is more than just being forgiven of sin.
        1. When we are born again, we become a new creature that has never existed before.
        2. If we lack understanding in this area, it will hinder our faith.
      2. In addition, we receive eternal, or zoë life.
        1. Zoë life describes the eternal nature of God, which He breathed into man (Genesis 2:7).
        2. God designed Adam to live forever. Man was never supposed to die.
        3. God wanted mankind to have dominion on the Earth and be co-creators with Him.
        4. We were made in the image of God; therefore, we possess the same creative power and authority that He does (Genesis 1:26).
        5. We can call those things that be not as though they were, have authority on the Earth, cast out demons, and lay hands on the sick.
      3. Knowing these truths should boost our faith.
    2. Failure to understand our place.
      1. We must recognize who we are in Christ.
      2. There are more than 140 expressions in the New Testament that use the phrases, in Him, in whom,or in Christ.
      3. We should read and meditate on these scriptures to understand who we are in Him.
    3. Failure to understand righteousness.
      1. We are made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21).
        1. We were all born into sin because of Adam’s disobedience (Romans 5:12-19).
        2. We were made righteous because of Jesus’ obedience.
        3. Righteousness is a free gift given by God; none of us has earned it.
        4. God’s grace abounds much more than sin.
      2. We are not righteous because of our good works (Romans 3:20-26; Romans 4:1-5).
        1. Our works (or service to God and others) will not get us into Heaven.
        2. We must believe the blood of Jesus puts us in right standing with the Father.
        3. It is easy to judge others when we think we have earned righteousness through our good works.
        4. When we sin or miss the mark, we can ask for forgiveness and receive it from God.
        5. Sin makes cowards of men. The guilt that comes from sin makes people run away from God.
        6. When we come before God, we must know we have the right to receive deliverance because of the blood of Jesus.
    4. Failure to understand our right to use the name of Jesus.
    5. Failure to act upon the Word.
    6. Failure to hold fast to our confession of our faith.
