Summary:

God wants us to be wealthy, and not just so we can have a better life. The primary purpose for wealth is to establish God's covenant.


  1. Prosperity is not just about money; it involves every area of your life.
    1. It is the objective of doing well.
    2. It means to exceed or to deal wisely.
      1. Prosperity includes healing, deliverance, salvation and money.
    3. The purpose of prosperity is to establish God's covenant in the earth (Deuteronomy 8:18; Genesis 12:1-3).

  2. There are many misconceptions about Biblical wealth.
    1. Sometimes people think that wealth and riches are not associated with holiness or godliness.
    2. Many people think it's not right for a Christian to be prosperous and to have money.
      1. Poverty is often associated with godliness.
        1. It's a myth that the poorer you are, the godlier you are.
        2. Wealth is a tool to accomplish the mission and vision of God.
        3. Wealth has always existed in the Scriptures.

  3. There are similarities, and differences, between the words, "prosperity" and "wealth."
    1. Prosperity means:
      1. To do well.
      2. To be favored.
      3. To be at ease, in peace and security.
      4. Totality
      5. To be on a successful journey.
    2. Wealth means:
      1. Strength
      2. Power
      3. Goods
      4. The ability to effect
      5. An army
      6. Capability
      7. Influential, upper-class
      8. To be firm
      9. To accumulate enough

  4. Wealth is not defined by money alone.
    1. Strength is the ability to get wealth. It's not just physical strength. It is an ability to exert power to get wealth in order to fulfill God's
      covenant.
      1. When we exert ourselves, we make an impact.
      2. When we have the resources to back our efforts, we make even more of an impact.
      3. No one pays attention to the poor. However, rich people are heard (Proverbs 10:15).
      4. Biblical wealth is a strength that comes from God (Proverbs 18:11).

  5. God wants you to have more than enough.
    1. God wants you to come out of Egypt, or the world's system of operation (Exodus 3:19-22).
      1. He doesn't want you to leave your circumstances empty-handed.
      2. Place a demand on what rightfully belongs to you.
      3. This is the time for you to multiply and be fruitful (Exodus 1:7-12).
        1. Your life will be a testimony when you prosper.
      4. In God's system, the highest form of power is prayer.
      5. In the world's system, the highest form of power is money.

  6. God gives riches.
    1. Wealth is a gift from God (Ecclesiastes 5:19).
      1. Possessions are a sign of the blessing of God (Ecclesiastes 6:2).
      2. God wants us to prosper. For a stranger (a non-believer) to take advantage of this (eat of it) is evil.
      3. We need to align our thinking with God's Word; we have the blessing (Deuteronomy 28:1-4).

  7. There is tangible and intangible evidence of wealth.
    1. There is material demonstration of the wealth of God.
      1. Land
      2. Animals
      3. Servants
    2. Intangible wealth is a by-product of tangible things.
      1. Capability is the ability to do a job well, with skillfulness.
        1. Get as much information as you can about your skills (Genesis 47:6).
        2. Be skillful. We are people of ability.

  8. God uses our skillfulness to get wealth to us.
    1. Ruth had the ability to get things done (Ruth 3:11).
    2. Joseph had the ability to get things done (Genesis 39:1-3, AMP).
      1. You can be prosperous where you are.
      2. Other people should see your prosperity.
    3. Because Joseph had grace (favor) on him, he was put in charge.
      1. You don't have to sell yourself out to be prosperous (1 Samuel 14:52, AMP).
      2. We need to do damage to the kingdom of darkness.
    4. Some people do not prosper because they aren't faithful to other people (i.e. employers, supervisors and ministers).
      1. You have to be trustworthy and honorable (Esther 1:15-17).
      2. Wealthy people are faithful and loyal.
      3. God wants us to live in the overflow of abundance (1 Kings 10:1-8, AMP).

  9. To have influence for godly purposes is a sign of wealth.
    1. The God-kind of wealth will cause people to be drawn to you (Psalm 73:3, 17).
    2. The prosperity of the wicked will not last (Psalm 37:1-11).
      1. Don't be envious even though they seem to be doing well.
    3. Be faithful to the tithe; keep your priorities right.
    4. After a while the wicked won't exist anymore; Believers will prosper.
