Summary:

We must understand the person of the Holy Spirit to truly grasp His power. Many Christians have learned in error who He really is and what He
wants to do in our lives. He is not a feeling. He is a real person, who
resides in Believers. He reveals all truth to us and brings the Word to
our remembrance.

A. Before we can gain concept of the anointing, which is an empowerment from God, we must understand the person of the Holy Spirit.

1. It is to our disadvantage to allow religious or traditional thinking to shape our view of the Holy Spirit. We cannot see Him as an experience
only.

a. He is the third person of the trinity: God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

b. He dwells in us, and is our Comforter and Helper (John 14:17-18, AMP).

c. He has been sent to teach, guide, and convict us of our sins (John 14:26, AMP).

d. He is our invisible friend, who reveals truth and helps us to think like Christ.

2. We cannot separate the blessing or the anointing from the person of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16-26, AMP).

a. When we honor God, He will honor us and we will receive His blessing, which is also His anointing.

b. We will experience His empowerment when we obey Him in love.

c. Honor, obedience, love, and the empowerment of God are linked; and they cannot be separated.

3. Our overall success in life and our intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit are also linked.

a. To be successful in these last days, we must have an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit (John 14:26, 27, AMP).

B. Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15-27, AMP).

1. Our obedience is proof that we love Him.

a. When we honor God, His Word is the superior and primary influence in our lives.

b. Every success or failure in our lives can be traced back to our honor or dishonor of the Word.

2. According to Matthew 22:36-40, the commandments of God are wrapped up in the law of love.

a. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

b. Love your neighbor as you love yourself.

3 The Holy Spirit will manifest Himself to us when we keep the commandment of love.

  1. We have the supernatural ability to keep Jesus’ law of love because the Holy Spirit has poured the Love of God into the hearts of Believers
    (Romans 5:5).
  2. The enemy usually attacks our relationship with God, which is a major part of his plan to infect the relationship.
  3. When we hold on to strife and bitterness, we ultimately put up a wall between ourselves and God.
