Summary:

The Bible is not just a history book filled with a collection of personal stories and facts. The Bible is God’s living Word! It is alive and full
of power. However, we must take God’s Word off the pages of the Bible
and plant it in our hearts. When we do, it will live, thrive, and grow
within us, producing a great harvest.

  1. The Word of God is alive and full of power (Hebrews 4:12).
    1. Every Scripture is given by the inspiration of God. People received the Word directly from Him and wrote it down (2 Timothy 3:16, 17, AMP, Acts 1:16, Jeremiah 36:2, 2 Peter 1:21, Ezekiel 1:3, Revelations 14:13).
    2. Why would God want His Word written in a book?
      1. So we can know His commandments and keep them continually before us.
      2. Jesus said if we love Him, we will keep His commandments (John 14:21-24).
      3. Our ultimate goal should be to conform into the image of Christ.
      4. When we read and study God’s Word and the testimonies of those who wrote the Bible, we learn more about God’s character.
  2. Jesus said the words He speaks are spirit and life. His Word makes us spiritual (John 6:63).
    1. Many Christians mislead others because they act spiritual.
      1. Although we may behave in ways that seem spiritual, nothing makes us spiritual except knowing the Word of God and living according to Scripture.
      2. Diligently and consistently studying the Word will cause it to live inside of you.
      3. When you know the truth, it will make you free (John 8:31, 32).
  3. Allow the Word to be a “lamp” or a guide for your life (Psalm 119:105).
    1. God sends forth His Word to heal, save, and deliver us (Psalm 107:20).
