Summary:

Attempting to make sense of God by reasoning is the worst enemy to faith. It will lead to negative emotions and give birth to sin. Don’t allow the
world’s reasoning to infect your faith. God has given you authority
over your emotions. Exercise that authority so you can see the fullness
of His blessings manifest in your life.

  1. God has given you authority over your emotions.
    1. Christians cannot be emotionally-ruled.
      1. Emotions are feelings caused by pain or pleasure, which are designed to move you in a certain direction.
        1. The success you have in managing your soul (your mind, will, and emotions), determines the success you'll have in life (3 John 2).
        2. If you can control your emotions, you can do anything (Proverbs 16:32).
    2. How you deal with your emotions will determine whether you walk in God's blessing, or under the curse.
      1. Don't allow your emotions to control your decisions.
      2. Allow the Word of God to determine your decisions.
    3. Out of control emotions will block the fullness of God's blessings from manifesting in your life.

  2. Reasoning, or sense knowledge, is faith's worst enemy.
    1. The struggle of every Believer is against sense knowledge, and reasoning, which govern the human race.
      1. You can't understand God with your physical senses.
    2. God has given His Word; your job is to believe it, not reason with it.
      1. Faith says, "I believe."
      2. Reasoning, or sense knowledge says, "It doesn't make sense."
    3. Don't allow science to dictate your beliefs.
      1. God's Word was true before science existed.

  3. Trying to make sense of God by reasoning will lead to negative emotions that oppose God's Word, and will give birth to sin (Genesis 3:1-6).
    1. By speaking words that contradicted God's words, Satan attempted to get Adam and Eve to reason with him.
      1. Reasoning gave birth to negative emotions, which led Adam and Eve to make a decision that opposed the Word of God.
    2. Negative emotions will give birth to sin.
      1. Negative emotions are the source of all sin.
    3. Satan will always speak contrary to the Word of God, in an attempt to use your emotions to lead you away from the will of God.
      1. If you start with negative words that oppose God's Word, you'll end up making decisions that oppose the Word of God.
      2. If you start with words in line with God's Word, you'll end up making decisions that are in line with the Word of God.

  4. Don't allow the world's reasoning to infect your faith.
    1. You will never give God's Word priority when you make a habit of reasoning with the Word.
    2. Know when to shut your reasoning off.
      1. Although you live in the sense realm, your war is not against the flesh (senses). The weapon of your warfare is the Word of God, which will
cast down strongholds, or reasoning (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).
      2. When you walk in the Spirit you will not fulfill the desire (lust) of your flesh (senses) (Galatians 5:16).
        1. In the fight of faith there is only one weapon-the sword of the Spirit (1 Timothy 6:12).
