Summary:


Fearing God means respecting Him enough to have the audacity to obey Him. When you respect God you will keep His commandments and restrain yourself from sin.

  1. Our society is characterized by lawlessness; a lack of respect and a lack of restraint.
    1. Lawlessness breeds disrespect toward God and His Word.
      1. Disregard for God has even become common in the lives of Christians.
      2. When you decide to sin, it is because you have decided to disrespect and disobey God.
    2. With the decision to obey God come great benefits.
      1. Angels will encamp themselves around you and deliver you.
      2. You are entitled to long life.
      3. Evil will not visit your house.
    3. When certain things are not working in your life, it may be because you are not walking in the fear of the Lord.
      1. Make the adjustments you need to make in order to walk in the fear of the Lord.

  2. Respect for God is the foundation for successful Christian living.
    1. When you respect God, He will respect you.
      1. Show Him that you are willing to obey Him, do what He tells you to do and restrain yourself from sin.

  3. The first five revelations on the fear of the Lord are:
    1. Christians are required to walk in the fear of the Lord (Deuteronomy 10:12). This is the duty of man (Ecclesiastes 12:13).
    2. Walking in the fear of the Lord will help you safeguard your salvation and experience the fulfillment of God's promises (Philippians 2:12).
    3. Walking in the fear of God will bring great eternal rewards on the Day of Judgment.
    4. Walking in the fear of the Lord will deliver you from wickedness.
    5. Your prayers will be answered when you walk in the fear of the Lord.

  4. Five more vital revelations on the fear of the Lord are:
    1. You will receive revelations about the blessings God has prepared for you (Psalm 25:14).
      1. If you are not walking in the fear of the Lord, don't expect to receive revelation from God (1 Corinthians 2:9, 10).
      2. God has laid up goodness for those who fear Him (Psalm 31:19).
    2. You will experience deliverance and preservation from God.
      1. The angels of God will surround and protect you.
      2. The Lord will meet your needs.
      3. When you walk in the fear of the Lord, you make a decision to walk in security.
      4. God will deliver you from death and provide for you in a time of lack (Psalm 33:18, 19; Psalm 34:7).
    3. You will receive an abundance of His grace and mercy (Psalm 103:11, 13, 17).
      1. Grace is unmerited favor.
        1. It is favor you didn't work for, earn or deserve.
    4. You will receive divine wisdom as well as long life (Proverbs 9:10, 11).
    5. Your children and future generations will be blessed and you will experience financial blessings and prosperity (Psalm 112:1-10).
