Summary.

We must reclaim our blessing! If we believe in Christ and have made a commitment to do right, God’s blessing belongs to us. However, we must
continue to speak His Word and have Godly character in order to partake
of the blessing.


A. God the Father has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3).

1. To be blessed means to be empowered to prosper.

a. God is the source of all blessings.

b. When we are blessed, we are fruitful in every area of life.

c. The blessing defines us and enables God to intervene on our behalf.

2. God blessed by declaring positive words over His creations (Genesis 1:22, 26-28).

a. He blessed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden because He wanted them to excel.

b. God also spoke the blessing over Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3).

c. We can partake of Abraham’s blessing today.

d. When we believe in Jesus Christ, we become a part of the blessing of Abraham (Galatians 3:13, 14).

e. God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others.

3. The blessing works when we begin to understand our words.

a. Your words have power.

b. Your mouth is a divine apparatus.

c. It can be used for evil or good; death and life are in the power of the tongue.

B. We are blessed when we are persecuted for righteousness’ sake (for being and doing right) (Matthew 5:10-12, AMP).

1. The blessing comes with persecution; however, God always causes us to triumph.

C. Joseph is a prime example of someone who was persecuted for being right (Genesis 39:1-23).

1. God was with Joseph and prospered him.

a. As a result of the blessing on his life, Joseph caused his master, Potiphar, to prosper.

b. Potiphar promoted Joseph to overseer of the entire house.

c. Joseph was an attractive young man with Godly character, and he got the attention of Potiphar’s wife. She tried to seduce him on more than one
occasion; however, Joseph refused to sin against his master and God.

d. Potiphar’s wife lied on Joseph, saying he raped her, and he was sent to jail as a result.

e. God prospered Joseph even in jail.

a. He obtained favor and became the manager of the jail.

f. No one can curse what God has blessed. God will cause the injustices done to His people to be overturned.
