Summary:

Financial prosperity is often misunderstood. There is wealth that comes from the Word, and wealth that comes from the world. Godly prosperity adds no
sorrow with it. However, wealth gained by ungodly means has the
potential to destroy the unwise person.

  1. There are two types of prosperity.
    1. Worldly prosperity-prosperity gathered from ways that oppose the Word of God (Psalm 73:12).
      1. Some people think prosperity can only be gained through wicked means.
    2. Godly prosperity-prosperity that comes from the Word.
      1. To gain godly prosperity your character must line up with the Word.
        1. It's not about the principles, but the character of a person.
        2. Examine your heart and walk in the fruit of the spirit. iii. Confess your prosperity according to the Word.
        3. All silver and gold belong to God (Haggai 2:8).

  2. The wealth of the sinner is being gathered for the righteous (Proverbs 13:22).
    1. The sinner's wealth is laid up for people with godly character.
      1. God is not going to help you destroy yourself.
        1. Money is an amplifier.
        2. If you haven't dealt with your character flaws, you're not ready for money. iii. Prosperity destroys the fool (Proverbs 1:28-32, Psalm
          73:19).

  3. How does prosperity destroy the fool?
    1. A fool despises wisdom and instruction (Proverbs 1:7).
    2. A fool is right in his own eyes (Proverbs 12:15).
    3. A fool makes a mockery of sin (Proverbs 14:9, Galatians 6:7, Romans 6:23).
    4. A fool hides hatred with lying and utters slander (Proverbs 10:18).
    5. A fool does mischief for sport (Proverbs 10:23).
    6. A fool has a perverted mouth (Proverbs 19:1).
    7. A fool trusts his own understanding (Proverbs 28:26).
    8. A fool says whatever comes to mind (Proverbs 29:11).
    9. A fool walks in darkness (Ecclesiastes 2:14).
    10. A fool doesn't pay vows.
    11. A fool is consumed by his lips (Ecclesiastes 10:12, Mark 11:23).
    12. A fool says in his heart there is no God (Psalm 53:1, Psalm 14:1).
    13. A fool is slow to believe (Luke 24:25).
      1. These things lead to destruction.
