Summary:

The key indicator of spiritual growth in the life of a Christian is his or her love walk. To say that you are a Believer and not demonstrate the fruit of love in your life is a contradiction.

Love is what distinguishes your salvation.

  1. God's love is poured into your heart by the Holy Spirit when you become born again (Romans 5:5).
    1. God's love-agapé love-is supernatural and goes beyond your emotions.
    2. Natural, human love is selfish and has to be loved in order to love in return.
    3. Agapé love is unconditional and loves no matter what the circumstances or how someone treats you.
    4. God loves you just as much as He loves Jesus.
    5. When you love someone who has done you wrong, you demonstrate spiritual maturity.

  2. Walking in love fulfills every law and commandment in the Bible
    (Romans 13:10).
    1. Walking in love is a requirement, not an option.
    2. The choice to walk in love is always the right choice.
    3. Walking in love is a spiritual law.

  3. Walking in love is the distinguishing characteristic of a Christian.
    1. No man has seen God, but when you walk in love, God is seen through your life (1 John 4:12-15).
      1. If you don't walk in love, the character of God is not in you.
    2. You have to evaluate your salvation if the fruit of love is not seen in your life (1 John 3:14).
    3. The evidence that you are born again is the love of God that is displayed through your life.
      1. Passing from death to life = the born again experience.
      2. The evidence that you've passed from death to life = loving your brother.
      3. When you accept Jesus in your heart, the things that used to matter i.e. how someone hurt or did you wrong, don't matter.
      4. A man who is filled with God's love can love anyone and forgive anything.
    4. Walking in love may look weak in the eyes of unbelievers, but from a spiritual perspective, you look strong.
      1. Love is the most powerful force on the Earth.

  4. Desire spiritual gifts, but desire to walk in love more.
    1. It is good to have the manifestation of spiritual gifts in your life, but love is even higher than spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:31).
    2. All of your good works are useless if you don't have the love of God operating in your life (1 Corinthians 13:1-3).
    3. Love won't allow you to pay attention to the wrong someone has done to you (1 Corinthians 13:5, AMP).

  5. Your level of spiritual maturity will determine the level of abundance you experience in your life.
    1. Real spiritual maturity means growth in love.
    2. Recognize that selfishness demonstrates spiritual immaturity.
    3. Love is spiritual fruit.
    4. What kind of fruit are you bearing?
