Summary:

The purpose of the fivefold ministry gifts is to help the body of Christ mature to do the work of the ministry. To reach spiritual maturity, Believers must go through a growth process. Your

level of spiritual growth is determined by your love walk and whether
your decisions are in line with the Word of God. Identify whether you
are a natural, carnal or spiritual person, then judge yourself in the
areas in which you need to grow.

  1. The fivefold ministry gifts are given to the body of Christ to mature the saints so they can do the work of the ministry—helping to edify the body of Christ
    (Ephesians 4:11-16).
    1. If those in the fivefold ministry (apostle, prophet, evangelist, teacher and pastor) don't mature, neither will the people to whom they minister.
      1. If you fail to mature in the love of God, you are still a spiritual baby.
        1. When a man matures in the love of God, he becomes spiritually mature.
    2. Evaluate your life to determine your level of spiritual maturity.
      1. A person who is spiritually immature has a hard time judging himself or herself.
      2. The ability to judge yourself is an indication of spiritual growth and maturity.
    3. We all have an assignment from the Lord to help someone else mature spiritually.
      1. Someone helped you mature, so you should help someone else grow up spiritually.
    4. Soul-winning for the Kingdom of God is every Christian's assignment.

  2. A natural man will not understand spiritual things
    (1 Corinthians 2:14).
    1. The natural man only understands things with his natural thinking.
      1. The Word is comprehended only through the spirit of a man.
    2. The natural man operates in demonic wisdom and is ruled by Satan and the powers of darkness (James 3:14, 15; Ephesians 6:12).
      1. Demons have the legal right to rule over those who are not born again.

  3. The natural man cannot please God (Romans 8:7).
    1. The natural man operates by his senses.
    2. Christians walk by faith and not by their senses (2 Corinthians 5:7).
      1. Things which are seen are temporary, but unseen, spiritual things are eternal.
        1. If you can see something, it can change.
    3. We are the sons of God because we are born again and led by the Spirit of God, not our five physical senses (Romans 8:14).
    4. We once walked like the natural man, fulfilling the lust of the flesh (Ephesians 2:1-3).
    5. When we were natural, we were strangers to our covenant and without God (Ephesians 2:11,12).
    6. The natural man is spiritually blind and walks in the perverseness of his mind (Ephesians 4:17,18).
      1. He is ignorant because his understanding has been darkened.
      2. Satan opposes the sharing of God's Word because his goal is to keep people in darkness.
