Summary:

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Therefore, God's Word is the source of faith. Be sure to plant the Word in your heart just as a farmer
plants seed, and allow it to remain there regardless of distractions
from the enemy.

  1. The just shall live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:16, 17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:38).
    1. Faith is the prescribed lifestyle for the just.
      1. The just are those who have been declared righteous in the sight of God.
    2. What is faith?
      1. Faith is the substance of the things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).
        1. Without hope, faith has nothing to fulfill.
        2. Hope is the blueprint for faith to accomplish.
    3. Faith is a practical expression of your confidence in God and His Word.
      1. Belief, alone, is not faith.
        1. Faith is acting out on what you believe.
        2. Faith is always present tense.
    4. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17).
      1. No Word, no faith.

  2. The Word of God is the seed of faith (I Peter 1:23).
    1. Just as a farmer plants seed for food, the seed of faith has to be planted in your heart.
      1. A farmer has to plant in good ground in order to get a harvest.
      2. Likewise, you have to plant the Word in the good ground of your heart to get a harvest.
    2. Although the apostles wanted increased faith, Jesus reminded them that faith is like a seed (Luke 17:5, 6).
      1. When you plant the seed of faith in your heart, cultivate it, and protect it; it will grow.
      2. The end of your faith is when you have what you've been believing God for.

  3. Your heart is the ground that will grow Word of God seed (Proverbs 4:20-27).
    1. Your heart grows word seed-either God's or Satan's.
      1. There is a battle over who will plant in your ground.
      2. Satan wants to use your ground to produce his word seed.
        1. He makes suggestions in an attempt to get his word seed into your heart.
      3. Every issue that concerns your life comes out of your heart; guard it vigilantly.
    2. There are three entrances into your heart:
      1. The eye gate
      2. The ear gate
      3. The mouth gate
    3. Whatever you spend the most time with is what will be planted in your heart.
      1. Whatever you give attention to most is what you will desire.
        1. Be careful not to allow Word of God seed to be choked by other seed.
      2. God says attend to His words.
