Summary:

One area of our lives in which Satan can frustrate us the most is our finances. Many people struggle to make ends meet while others continue to live from paycheck to paycheck. Mounting financial pressure causes stress and other health problems; however, we no longer have to be subject to financial bondage. We can proclaim our freedom from the curse of poverty and begin to operate in the blessing today.

  1. When Jesus was crucified, His hands were nailed to the cross.
    1. The blood that flowed from His hands signified our freedom from the curse of poverty.
    2. Our hands represent our economic capability and strength.
    3. God blesses the work of our hands (Deuteronomy 28:8, 12, Deuteronomy 12:7).
  2. The fall of man affected the economy of mankind.
    1. Disobedience produces poverty (Genesis 3:17, 19).
      1. Poverty is designed to destroy and, therefore, is a product of Satan.
      2. Satan is the thief who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10, AMP).
      3. Jesus came to give us abundant life.
    2. “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree” (Galatians 3:13).
      1. He was made a curse so that we may live a blessed life (2 Corinthians 8:9).
    3. “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth” (Deuteronomy 8:18).
      1. Power is the ability to get results.
      2. Love must be the motive for our desire to acquire wealth.
      3. The enemy wants to short-circuit our wealth by leading us away from unconditional love.
  3. How can we receive the abundant life Jesus died to give us?
    1. We can start with our words.
      1. We must begin to call ourselves blessed instead of cursed.
      2. We can curse our lives and well-being by speaking negatively.
      3. We must replace our complaints about lack with faith-filled words from God’s Word.
