Summary:

The Word of God says we should assemble ourselves together and exhort one another. Therefore, church attendance should be a custom for Believers,
just as it was for Jesus.

  1. Believers must be faithful in attending church services.
    1. Like Jesus, Believers should aspire to faithfully attend church.
      1. Jesus established a custom of going to church (Luke 4:16).
        1. A custom is a long, established habit.
      2. As a child, Jesus could always be found in the temple (Luke 2:43-49, AMP).
    2. The Bible admonishes us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together with other Believers (Hebrews 10:22-25, AMP).
      1. Have fervent passion about being in God's house (Psalm 84:1-4, 10).
      2. Don't get into the habit of not coming to church.
    3. We come to church for the following reasons.
      1. To exhort one another in these Last Days.
      2. To inquire of the Lord in His temple (Psalm 27:4).
    4. Two reasons people stay out of church.
      1. They fall out of love with God.
      2. They fall out of love with their brethren.

  2. How are we to be faithful to our church?
    1. By attending church services.
      1. We attend church to meet Jesus (2 Thessalonians 2:1, AMP).
    2. By defending our church.
    3. By extending our church-inviting others to come to church with us (Luke 14:23).
    4. By praising and recommending our church.

  3. When you stay out of church:
    1. You will begin to drift downstream, away from what you've learned in church.
    2. You will doubt and depart from God.
    3. You will become dull in your hearing.
    4. You will backslide.

  4. Twelve things you can do to be a blessing to your church:
    1. Ask what you can do for your church, instead of what your church can do for you.
      1. It's more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).
    2. Pray for your pastors.
    3. Bless your pastors on special occasions.
    4. Get involved in the helps ministry.
      1. The requirements for helps ministry are as follows:
        1. You must be proven faithful.
        2. You must have one spouse.
        3. You must have your finances in order.
        4. You must be above reproach-a person of integrity.
    5. Follow through with commitments.
    6. Submit with style and always smile.
    7. Recognize the trap of familiarity.
    8. Overcome offense.
    9. Speak faith-filled words over your church.
    10. Invite others to your church.
    11. Be a consistent giver.
    12. Reach out to others.
