Summary:

Living a long, strong life is the Believer’s covenant right. You can live a minimum of 70 years, or a maximum of 120 years if you desire. By receiving your covenant rights through Jesus,
you can achieve long life over death.



  1. Living a long life is a part of God’s covenant with you (Genesis 15:15).
    1. Abraham lived to be 175 years old (Genesis 25:7-8).
      1. Isaac is a part of the Abrahamic covenant as well (Galatians 4:28).
      2. Isaac lived to be 180 years old (Genesis 35:28).
    2. Jacob lived to be 147 years old (Genesis 47:28).
    3. Joseph lived to be 110 years old (Genesis 50:26).
    4. Moses lived to be 120 years old and all his faculties were fully functional (Deuteronomy 34:7).
    5. Joshua lived 110 years (Joshua 24:29).
    6. Everyone living under the Abrahamic covenant lived over 100 years.

  2. Jesus connects you to the covenant of Abraham.
    1. God is a covenant-keeping God (Jeremiah 33:20-21).
    2. Obey God and His Word in order to experience His covenant promises (Isaiah 51:1-2).
    3. God blessed and increased Abraham, and He wants to do the same for you.
    4. When Jesus died on the cross, He made it possible for you to connect to the blessing of Abraham (Galatians 3:13-14).
      1. Jesus made it possible for non-Jewish people (Gentiles) to be able to benefit from God’s covenant of blessings, increase and prosperity.
        1. Believers have a right to a goodly heritage (Psalm 16:6).
      2. You can receive covenant longevity by faith.
    5. Christians don’t die, they “fall asleep” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14; 1 Thessalonians 5:7).
    6. A person should live a minimum of 70 years (Psalm 90:10).
      1. Life can be extended beyond the age of 70.
      2. Build strength into your life by abiding in the Word of God.
      3. The Word of God builds strength into your spiritual system.
      4. Taking communion, and receiving its benefits by faith, will also increase strength and bring long life.
        1. Communion is your secret place when you are in trouble.
      5. Communing with God through His Word and by practicing His presence also produces strength.

  3. Long life is the product of wisdom and understanding (Proverbs 3:13-14).
    1. It takes wisdom and understanding to live a long life
      (Proverbs 4:7-10).
    2. The best life insurance policy is the Word of God.

  4. You can be satisfied with long life (Psalm 91:16).
    1. The minimum covenant age in Noah’s day was 120 years (Genesis 6:3).
    2. Sin corrupted long life and brought the minimum age down to 70 years.
    3. Don’t destroy yourself; turn to God for help and wisdom on how to extend your life (Hosea 13:9).
    4. Long life starts with the words you speak.
      1. Your mouth is the key to living a long life (Proverbs 18:21).
    5. You don’t have to fear death because God has already judged it (Hosea 13:14).
